Chosen as the 2025 recipient of the Wilfred C. Bain Scholarship and also a 2024 recipient of the "New Emerging Artist Grant" from the Canada Council for the Arts, Chinese Canadian mezzo-soprano Natalie Vong is currently in her third year of her D.M. Voice Performance degree studying under the tutelage of Dr. Brian Gill at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music.

Vong is an active performer having perfomed across Canada, China, Italy, Macao and the United States. Some of her past roles include Ruggiero in Alcina with IU Opera Theatre (2025) and UWOpera (2021) , La Badessa in Suor Angelica with IU Opera Theatre (2024), Sesto in Giulio Cesare with Chicago Summer Opera (2024) , Hansel  in Hansel and Gretel with UWOpera (2022), Praskowia in The Merry Widow with Opera York (2020), Third Lady in Die Zauberflöte with Halifax Summer Opera Festival (2019), Suor Mathilde in Dialoghi delle Carmelitane with La Musica Lirica (2018) and opera choruses of Die Zauberflöte and Le Nozze di Figaro with UWOpera.  An avid seeker of new works, this past summer Vong  portrayed Catherine in the world premiere of Canadian composer Colin Doroschuk’s Jéhanne with Opera Quest.

Aside from singing and performing, Natalie also has a deep love for other aspects of music such as playing the piano and teaching. She started playing the piano at the age of 5 and obtained her Grade 8 Piano with the Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music (UK) in 2014. Natalie has also taught voice, piano and theory in multiple musical institutions in the past 8 years across Bloomington, Indianapolis, London and Toronto.  Her students have had great success with Royal College of Music examinations ranging from Grade 1 -7. She earned both her Master of Music in Performance and Literature and a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance at the University of Western Ontario studying under Dr. Sophie Roland.
